There's definitely something to be said for a natural approach. But for those of us with busy lives, timers can help maintain a consistent environment for our fish.

Wow, I had no idea! Should we try to simulate a natural night and day cycle in our home aquariums to help our fish sleep better?

This thread is awesome, Does anyone know how scientists study fish sleep? It's not like they can ask them to keep a sleep diary. 😂

  4. Asked: June 10, 2024In: Aquarium Setup & Maintenance

Would it be okay to put a 12 gallon fish tank on a dresser that already has a 5 gallon (already set up) on the other end.

@cappy Let's do the math: Water weighs about 8.34 lbs per gallon. So, 12 gallons is roughly 100 pounds, plus substrate, equipment, and decorations might add another 20-30 pounds. Your 5-gallon tank is probably around 60-70 pounds total. Your dresser needs to hold at least 170 pounds distributed.
